For those with iPods... this new version helps with the iTunes 4.9 Podcasting functionality

Apple - iPod Update

Is this a better alternative to skype? It supposedly includes free voice mail and allows you to record calls, which should promote lots of Podcasters to at least consider the new software. Let me know if you want to test it with me by posting a comment...

iTunes 4.9 ... Podcasting...

If you haven't read it already, Apple released iTunes 4.9 today with the added functionality of accepting Podcasts. I am not sure about the interface and how it stores the Podcasts yet, but if you are a newbie to the world of obtaining podcasts it is a great addition, especially if you use iTunes already. I say give it a try...

As for me, I am not uninstalling Doppler, yet, but I might be close.

Interesting concept, Tour guide audio and sometime images that can be downloaded to your iPod or other device. For my world traveling friends this might be neat, of course I don't see a Chicago guide yet.

I almost always turn the hold button on my iPod on, and generally kick myself if I don't. This explains a couple of good reasons to get into the habit.

Firefox and Greasemonkey Revisited...

For my two readers, you might remember my rant of holding off on Firefox and Greasemonkey after writing that you should run them. Well, again I will give an endorsement for Firefox and it's extension's (including Greasemonkey). Here are a list of extensions that might interest some:

  • BugMeNot: Allow getting a generic user name and password for sites that require login (New York Times anyone?) without having any personal information provided.

  • PDF Download: Gives option to download or open a pdf in a separate tab.

  • FoxyTunes: Controls iTunes, Windows Media Player, or WinAMP in the browser status bar (bottom).

  • ieview: Allows you to switch to IE when a page (mostly microsoft.com) doesn't work as expected or needed.

  • Sage: Turns Firefox into a RSS Reader.

  • NetCraft Toolbar: Helps protect against Phishing sites. Displays date site has been up since and the actual provider.

  • Greasemonkey: Allows javascripts to be run on existing web pages. Several are already written and available at GreaseMonkeyUserScripts and Dive into Greasemonkey provides documentation into writting your own. I also have modified a script to add a search of the Harris County Library system (Houston area) from a ISBN off of amazon.com. You can download/install mine from amazon linky - houston

Hope you give Firefox a try...

Interesting little product... I might have to download it. Though I don't do enough photo editing to warrant a product to determine the differences between two files.

This offer gives a free personal edition license to the software if you download.
